BOMBARDIER FLEXITY 2 FOR BLACKPOOL
16 of these 5-car units will enter service in 2011/12. They are being built in Germany and Austria by Bombardier Transportation., who have already supplied vehicles for London, Nottingham and Manchester. The new units have a low floor design to easily accommodate wheelchairs and pushchairs. There will be a considerable reduction in energy consumption and reduced journey times to Fleetwood.
They will effectively replace 29 trams which have been sold off in 2010.
